No More Ms. Nice Coach

It's 2010 and I know that the changes in the economy, presidency, environment and humanity are sparking people to change. My column this week in the Red Bluff Daily News spells out the fact that it is time to get past sugar coating and pleading you to change and start getting you pumped up and challenged.

The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work and if you want something in life you have to take action. Coaching is an excellent way to get the support that you need.

Most think that only elite athletes have coaches, but all highly successful people have many types of coaches. Think of coaches as a tutor, a teacher, a cheerleader or a mentor. Whatever label you place on it, it is coaching.

Faydra and Company offers coaching with a twist that no other program is offering, old school one to one time. Many high end coaching companies offer you a scheduled appointment to go over your worksheets and to give you some pumping up. I have proven that by providing people support when they need it most, in the moment, they affect change easier and faster.

Work Ethic Starts Young

This is video of the Red Bluff Spartans cheerleaders at the annual Holiday Classic basketball tournament rally. These girls have practiced as a team since last July and the season culminates with this rally.

As a spectator, it is wonderful to see the time and effort come to fruition for these athletes. What is more impressive is knowing that for the seniors, this is their last harrah.

The work ethic instilled in these athletes will serve them throughout their lives. The time commitment, the toll on their muscles and their pursuit of excellence is something that they will take with them into their adulthood.

I know for my daughter, her day as a Red Bluff High student, begins at 5:30 AM where she meets her track coach at the gym to train for track. She trains year round for her field events in shot put and discuss. After her workout, she puts in a full day of academics and then two or more hours of cheer followed by at least two hours of intense basketball training. She is the only cheerleader on the track and the basketball teams.

As far back as I can remember she has had a drive to give anything she puts her mind to all that she has. It has paid off in her esteem, her opportunities and her experiences. She is well thought of and liked by her teachers, coaches and friends at school.

Work ethic starts early. It is taught in many forms. It isn't just about your GPA. It is about the overall well roundedness of a person. These girls have what it will take to make something of themselves in life. It started young and it is as strong as this performance. Spartans~Prepare for Glory!
